Time to come out of hibernation?
I have fallen into the depths of winter, hidden in my cozy cave, eating chocolate covered anything, growing a large tummy that my boy keeps asking; "when is it going to pop?", wondering if spring will really come...ever!! Do you know what I'm talking about? Why do we feel like life is hum-drum with out the sun? Well-we have been busy in doors, snuggling and crossing off "to-do's" when we get around to them. Here is a little update on things while we have been hibernating...
Even though I am inside-my kids are loving the snow with their friends.
We've been playing lots of "pirates/football/cops and robbers" all at the same time.
Rylee was invited to attend a mini drill team clinic, which she loved. She loves Tayler Pulsipher and would love to dance like her one day. So this was a great opportunity. She was able to perform at half-time at the Alta Varsity basketball game. She did great and can't stop talking about it.
The girls and Tayler-who is a dancer at Alta High.
I have been painting and trying to transform a little boys' room into a baby girls' room. I have had so much fun getting ready for a little girl. I must say things have changed over 7 years-even though Rylee was so much fun as well.
I know you all will be so impressed when I tell you that this baby bedding was made just for our new babe. No, not by me, but by my mother. She has spent countless hours putting this together and trying to get this just right for me. I know absolutely nothing about sewing, so when I told her that I found about 13 different fabrics that I love and wondered if she could put something together for me, I am sure she wanted to pass out. But she smiled and said she would love to try. She did a fabulous job. I love, love, love it. The pictures just don't do it justice.
This is the quilt that she put together. You can't see all the detail-but it honestly blows me away to see such beautiful work.
We have enjoyed the little things in life. This is my place setting at dinner the other night when Rylee was in charge of setting the table. She got little pink post-it notes and wrote "I love you so much" and put them on everyone's dinner plates. It was quite cute.
Got to love that girl!
We have successfully made the transfer. Nash is now in his big boy bed. Not only that, but he is sharing a room with his brother and I was afraid that they would never go to sleep. To my surprise, it was a smoother transition than I expected. I love to hear them laugh and talk at night before they fall asleep.

Our Christmas Story...
We hope that your holidays were as wonderful and fun as ours. I think I have finally come to grips that it is over-until next year! Perhaps it has something to do with all the Valentine and Easter stuff displayed in all the stores (good grief)! I was too busy enjoying the holidays to catch up on the blog, but hopefully you won't mind a little peek into our "Christmas Story". These are some of the reasons we love Christmastime.

So much to be thankful for...
Thanksgiving weekend is one long, wonderful holiday for our family. We are so grateful to have both families so close. We eat two, yes two, thanksgiving dinners, and get to spend time with both families. We really are so thankful for family!
How can you not love all the cute Thanksgiving art that covers our walls. This is the "5 little turkeys sitting on a fence"-Rylee learned a lot about how we get our Thanksgiving turkey for our feast. She sings the song about these cute turkeys who hide on Thanksgiving day. So, just before we eat our turkey feast, she asks me..."who here killed the turkey?". She knew one of those turkeys were no longer sitting on that fence. We got pretty creative with some answers.
The tables were set with such great care. They were beautiful. Marilyn always does a little extra, and had a cute favor at each of our place settings.
Our wild Indians made some cute hats and would hardly sit still for a picture.
And that is a wrap! Monday is here and we are ready to relax and recover from the weekend. Actually-I am so excited to get out all the Christmas decor, but it seems a bit weird to do so without any snow.

AHHHH... Mexico!
After being home a week, I have finally realized that real life is back and I can no longer order multiple "pina colada's" from Roberto, cover my feet in warm sand, lay under an umbrella to read, or order chips and salsa any time of the day. We had a great and relaxing vacation with my family. We played hard, laughed hard, and ate hard (if that makes sense). Now when life gets crazy, I can take myself to this "happy warm place" to get me through the next couple of cold months.

Annual Welch Halloween Party
Each year my parents host a fabulous Halloween Party. We look forward to it all year. We plan costumes and keep them a secret until the big night. We eat dinner and goodies all night, while playing funny and silly games. Jake was in Hawaii and Tiffany came late from school. This is for you Trent and Laura-we missed you. Here are the hilarious pics...
